LED Grow Lights

Last updated: December 16th, 2020

When I first grew Cannabis, electricity consumption was a problem.

I even had to tell my landlord that I’m running a big computer to avoid suspicion.

Today we have LED Grow Lights.

LEDs are cheap to buy AND cheap to run.

The whole world is switching to LED. And so do Cannabis Grow Tents.

LED Grow Lights can still use lots of Power.

But they make more light with that power.

They also run cooler. And that means you don’t have to worry about your tent getting too hot.

Choosing an LED Grow Light

It can be confusing to research LED Grow Lights.

Because there are hundreds.

But the main brands have stood the test of time.

If you buy a light from these manufacturers, you will be fine.

Those brands have been around for a while. Their lights work well and they even have warranty renters in several countries.

The bigger your tent, the bigger your light

Real Wattage or Fake Wattage?

You will find that some sellers give their LED lights big “Wattage” claims.

For example, they say their lights is a 1000 Watt Light.

However, if you check the fine print, you will read that the light actually draws 110Watts ‘of the wall’.

The LED factory then will say the LED light is an ‘equivalent to 1000 Watts’.

But that is total baloney. There is no equivalent-to-1000 Watts’.

LEDs are their own type of light, and when buying an LED we will ONLY look at the ‘real power draw’.

Which LED chips are best?

Right now (year 2021), the best LED Chips are

  • Samsung LM301
  • Their small Brother, the Epistar

Most LED Grow Lights use these chips.

The difference then is in the number of chips used.
